I have been in contact with 24k Goldens about getting a puppy - any thoughts, opinions? TIA!

I think they're probably fine. I think one of their dogs listed under "Champions" is owned by one of the mods here. I assume she will weigh in.

I don't think it was meant as an issue at all. Just that it would be great to get input from the person who owns one of this breeder's dogs. It's always nice to have first hand experience from a GRF member who understands the importance of clearances and the idea that a breeder should be participating in some form of competition with their dogs. Chances are good you've found a really good possibility here. You might ask if you could get this person to pm you.

Are you talking about Scotts 24k Goldens (Steve and Joanne Scott) or 24KT Goldens (Judi Voss)? Either way, as with all breeders, make sure the parents have all clearances (hip, eye heart and elbow) but certainly both breeders are reputable. Our Jack is from Scotts 24k Goldens. Who are the parents of the litter?

It is Joanne and Steve from Scotts 24k Goldens. I'm not sure yet who the parents of the litter are - I just got an email from Joanne saying that they do have a puppy available. I thought I'd get opinions on the breeder before I got my hopes up - I tend to think a breeder sounds great but then all kinds of red-flags show up so I thought I'd check here first! I really want to make sure I go with a good breeder - its so easy to just fall in love with that adorable puppy face and then all reason just flies out the window! Thanks guys!

Thank you all for your help! This is a big decision for me and I just want to do my best to make a responsible choose. I have contacted the breeder for further info so I have my fingers crossed! Once I decided I was ready to get a puppy, of course I wanted one *right now* but I have really *tried* to take my time and do my research - there are so many websites out there that look great and have a lot of "bells and whistles" that make you think they are reputable breeders, but then people - in the know-like you guys- have been very helpful in steering me clear of some potentially shady situations!

Goldenjackpuppy - I had thought I had seen somebody on the forum that had a 24k pup listed in their signature - but I couldn't remember who it was - I'm glad you chimed in too - nice to hear from someone with personal experience with a particular breeder!
