Thank you for the clarification. I did think it was part of the Club. Do you have to be a breeder or handler to be in the club?

A great place to start to get info, before you talk to any breeders, is the "Acquiring a golden puppy" page on the Golden Retriever Club of America Website:
Golden Retriever Puppies: Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA)

Lots of info there that will help you ask the right questions.

Then, a good place to start looking for breeders is the site BajaOklahoma gave you: DFW Golden Retriever Breeders - Dallas Fort Worth Texas

The Dallas Ft Worth Metro Golden Retriever Club will be holding its Specialty on Friday March 22nd in Ft. Worth. There will be 3 days of shows from Fri-Sun where you can see conformation goldens and goldens competing in obedience that weekend. Check out the club's website (Dallas-Ft. Worth Metro Golden Retriever Club) later on for more info.

Nope, they even let me join. Just show up at a meeting.

I love the Xcelerate Golden too! gorgeous dogs.

When I started looking, I went to a couple of the shows. People were great - they spoke to me (dog lovers are nice people) and introduced me around. Go to a meeting or two before the show and they will recognize you - that always helps too. It shows you are serious about wanting a well bred dog.

I don't mind traveling at all. Houston is a very easy drive from here. I will look into those breeders as well.

I have been looking at all of the golden retriever websites mentioned and learned a lot from them. It seems like a lot of the websites say all the right things and are very similar. I think that's why I feel better hearing about the breeders first hand on this forum.

I would like to attend the shows in March. I guess I didn't realize anyone could attend them.

This forum is great! Thank you for the responses.

I like Judy Word, too! :-)

Brianna Bischoff is another breeder in Texas, called Emery Goldens. Not sure what she has planned in the future.

Do you know if there are any websites showing pictures of Emery Goldens?

Scion is outside of Austin also. Schoolhouse and Glengowan (husband and wife) are in the DFW area also.
