There is an agility meet at Myers Park in McKinney, March 8-10th.
It's fun to watch and a great way to network. You'll see a variety of dogs, but some Goldens.
The DFWMGRC is hosting the Nationals in Wichita Falls this year. While not exactly in our backyard, it is close enough to be worth going.

The agility meet would be fun but we'll be out of town for spring break. I did look at that website and some of the breeders listed.
Is it safe to assume if they are on that website they should be a good reputable breeder?
Thanks for the tips!

I wouldn't assume anything until you go and meet and talk to them. The way I see it - it's like adopting a child.
However I do believe it is a starting point.

Absolutely not. Some of the least reputable breeders have the flashiest websites, they are hoping that you will be impressed with the website and not look to carefully at the lack of substance in the areas of clearances, guarantees and pedigrees. Some of the most reputable breeders do NOT even have websites, they are too busy "doing it right". They are spending their time competing with their dogs, researching pedigrees, obtaining clearances on their dogs, socializing their puppies.

I left messages for both of the breeders listed below. What are your thoughts on these places? I really appreciate the advice.

Kim at Mystic bred my Breeze's dam. Her dogs like to work, but also have an off switch in my experience. Lovely temperaments.
She is a bit old school though from what I understand so you will need to ask to see hard copies of heart and eye exams.

I personally like Judy Word of Bravo Goldens. Her dog sired a litter out of a girl of mine that had been leased, and when Judy realized the puppies were not in a good situation, she took the puppies herself and nursed them back to health.

When I flew down to see the puppies and bring two of them back, I was overwhelmed by the care Judy and her husband had given the puppies, how well she had cared for them and how well-socialized they were.

I definitely would recommend Judy.

DFW Golden Retriever Breeders - Dallas Fort Worth Texas
This site is separate from the Club, just FYI.
I have met most of the breeders listed on this site and seen many of their dogs <wiping the drool off my face>. It looks like the site hasn't been updated since last summer, so the list of who is expecting puppies isn't current.

Banker's breeder is on the list. Many of these breeders don't always have litter available. They carefully plan them and have excellent results. If you connect with them, they should be able to help you hook up with someone who is having a litter.

I am a member of the Club, just haven't be able to go to the meetings for awhile. Sad I have to work.
