| Breeder in Utah? Anyone have experience with breeders in Utah? I read another posting about North Star Golden Retrievers not being good. There is also Windmill Farms that is close to where I live.... Windmill Farms Golden Retrievers- Great Field, SAR, Upland Game, Hunt & Trial Golden Retriever Puppies! I am really hoping to get a rescue golden, but decided to start researching breeders in case we decide to go the puppy route. Thanks!

| Make sure that whatever breeder you choose does all four core clearances. OFA hips and elbows done after 2 years of age, heart but a cardiologist not a general practice vet done after 12 months of age, and yearly CERF eye clearances. You can verify clearances on the OFA website. North Star raises some red flags, including there use of the term "english creme". Only one of the dogs I looked up on OFA had the 4 clearances and that was a silvermine dog (search forum for thread on silvermine), and the other dogs only had heart and thyroid clearances NO hips, elbows or cardiac. Windmill Farms does not appear to do cardiac clearances on their dogs, it is something that you should ask. I am sure someone more knowledgeable can chime in about the missing clearances and reputable breeders in your area. |

| I was on the GRC website earlier and I didn't see any clubs in UT. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place?

| "River" just turned two about 2 weeks ago and has NO clearances listed with OFA. This same stud dog "Bridger" got me in a huge tiff with the head moderator on RTF, as the breeder listed him as a sire on a litter listing before he was two and had no clearances. When I objected (that is against RTF policies) myself and the moderator had a little educational discussion on why "a letter from the vet" is not a prelim, and a prelim is not a clearance. Ahh, good times, good times. May want to check out PrairieWyn goldens, I think they are in Utah.
