Does anyone have any suggestions for a reputable breeder in WA state!? We have been looking at breeder referrals on the Evergreen Golden Retriever Club website, but it would be awesome to get some input from you guys as well. We know that while a quality breeder doesn't breed for a specific color (which we completely respect), we prefer those very light golden in color (but not white, we still want true to the breed). If anyone has any input, it would be much appreciated.
We have several good breeders. It will be clear, because they will either post all the clearances or send them to you. They will also chat with you at shows. (Call ahead and be aware that it's busy next to the ring.) My puppy is from Rush Hill - healthy, loving, confident, and smart. And also very typically golden - exuberant, gregarious, and ball/toy crazy. Right now, he's sleeping with a toy in his mouth. As far as color, very light and very dark both seem to be "in fashion" these days, but it's potluck on what comes out of the litter!
I'm SO bummed. There is a dog show at the Puyallup Fair in January, but I will be in Florida (bummed I'll miss the show, not so much I will be in Disneyworld ). I love that yours fell asleep with a toy in his mouth. So typical!
You are in a great area for some wonderful Golden breeders. Abelard and Rush Hill and Chuckanut have done some breedings between their kennels in the past. The Golden Ret. ring usually has 70+ dogs out here so there is a highly competitive circle in the PNW. Continue looking at the breeders websites to see upcoming litters.
I have been trying to get in touch with Chuckanut too but haven't had any luck ... I called them a few weeks ago and left a voicemail. I just sent another inquiry on the website recently after not getting a response. We're not really in a rush because we're looking for a summer/fall puppy but if anyone knows how to get in touch with them I would love the information! Thanks,
Marie
PS - Jonah is beautiful!!
