If a Golden is 7 yrs old and has had 6 previous litters, are there health risks that may be possible with puppies from a 7th litter because of the mother's age and breeding every year?

The father is only a little over 12 months old. Are there health risks that may be associated with puppies due to this age?

Any suggestions/info would be helpful. There is a local litter that I am thinking about but I am unsure because of the mom and dad's ages.

RUN away from this litter.
The father cannot have had his health clearances done, as he is not 2 years old yet and you can't do them until the dog is at least 2.
I would not even consider a litter where both parents haven't had full clearances done.
At a minimum, hips, elbows, heart, and eyes should have been checked. Thyroid should also have been done, and preferably DNA testing for PRA and ichthyoisis.
Further, you don't know the father's true temperament because he's too young. He's still a puppy, and the "adult temperament" doesn't come out for another year or more.
Besides that, you don't know at his age whether or not he will have allergies, which would put the puppies at risk for developing allergies.
Perhaps some forum members in your area can suggest breeders for you to contact.

I agree with Hotel4dogs. The dad is should not be a dad yet.

With the mom personally 7 is the tops I would even consider breeding a girl and I personally do not like to see girls have more than five litters but preferably four or less.
Seven years and seven litters sound like a puppy making machine. If they waited til she was two to start breeding her, which is doubtfull because the dad is too young, she would have had a litter every year of her adult life and most years two. That is a lot to ask of a girl.

Normally when a reputable breeder is breeding a girl in this age range, it is because she has spent a good chunk of her adult life competing in the breed ring, obiedience, field, etc.

My main consern would be the lack of clearences. You want a puppy to be with you and healthy as long as possible, hopefully for 14+ years. Take your time, find a reputable breeder who does the core 4 clearences and then double check them online at Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. There are several stickies at the top of this section that are very helpful.

When you do narrow down your search, provide the dam and sire names and we would be glad to double check the clearances with you.

No final joint clearances on the sire if he's that young. Dealbreaker.

The health risks are bad for the girl, and the health risks on the puppy are unnecessarily high because the sire can't have clearances (he's too young) and the mom probably doesn't either.

There is just no reason for a girl to have 7 litters other than the breeder is simply breeding to put puppies on the ground and this poor girl still has a uterus. Having had 7 litters in 6 years, she has MORE than contributed to that breeder/breeding program(if they truly have one) and needs to be retired. Yes, there are risks to the mother having had that many litters and with increased age. The mother would be at risk for pyometra and uterine inertia.

With a sire that young, final clearances have not been done and even prelims done before a year old do not have a high degree of reliability.

I could never recommend that someone get a puppy from a breeder who is engaging in these type practices.
