Moving from Want a Golden to Have a Golden....

After months of research and reading these very helpful posts, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger and purchase my first golden puppy. The first breeder, who is outstanding, doesn't work since I'm anxious to get a puppy soon. I've now found two reputable, well respected breeders with puppies on the ground or coming soon, Cedar Goldens and Stoneledge Goldens. I hope to get the collective groups wisdom on two litters. I've spoken to Mary at Cedar Goldens - she's delightful. She is breeding Rudy (Maltcarin Malagold Cedar) and Izzie (Stanroph Smile of Success). And Louise at Stoneledge, also super nice, has bred Bentley (Trowsnest Bentley's EZ Ryde) and Indigo (Beau Geste Stoneledge 7th Chakra) Both appear to be well regarded, professional breeders.

I'd appreciate and welcome any thoughts on these litters.

Thanks!

Congrats on your decision to get a golden puppy:) We are looking to get one too.

I would ask Mary at Cedar goldens about eye clearances as I didn't see any listed at OFA.

Stoneledge seems to have a lot of litters and if I was looking at a puppy from there I would ask them what the purpose of their breeding program is and where the puppies are raised/socialized prior to coming home with you.

I am sure that others with more experience and knowledge than me will chime in. Good luck with your search and puppy:)

Just by a quick look at K9data and offa.org for the stoneledge breeding
dad is out of date on eyes (ask breeder if that is true or not, some have it done but are slow to submit), also dad has no elbow clearances. K9 shows he has heart done, but not on offa, so I'd double check that also.
Mom only has hips and elbows listed. I'd ask about eyes and heart

For the Cedar breeding, check for eyes on Izzie, but I can't find dad on either K9 or OFFA

The K9data entry for the Cedar sire is under Maltcairn Malagold Cedar Rudy. On OFA entry does not have an eye clearance, so ask for that and his heart was done by a practitioner rather than by a cardiologist.
