| We lost our friend/dog of 15 years earlier this year, and we are thinking of getting a Golden Retriever. We want to make sure that we find a good and healthy dog from a good and trusted breeder. Does anyone have any referrals or recommendations to trusted breeders in northern california? Last edited by brandydoodle; 11-14-2012 at 09:33 AM. |

| Welcome to the forum! Glad you found GRF, lots of info and fun to be had here!!! And so sorry about the loss of your dog. What was his/her name? The best place for you to start research on a breeder you trust is to visit the NorCal Golden Retriever Club website NORCAL Golden Retriever Club There is a lot of great information there and also a puppy referral page. You may also want to cherk-out this thread about Calif breeders, it is very recent. .. http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/...ere-start.html (Really don't know where to start????) Good luck and keep us posted!

| Golden Retriever Club of America - AKC National Breed Club From there you can find links to local breed clubs for breeder referrals. What type of golden are you looking for? Super active, calm, medium energy level, therapy work, confirmation, obedience, etc. The more you tell people here the better we can direct you. Rescue is also a great option! My Buddy is a rescue and I would not be hesitate to get another myself.

| I met two Aubridge goldens in Oklahoma--a senior & a youngster--sweet temperaments & gorgeous. |

| My Sam is out of Reason-CH. Aubridge Wave your Rights RN OS and I couldn't be happier with his temperment, trainability, drive, conformation and health. The upcoming litter is out of a half sister to my Sam, and I hope to get a show puppy out of the litter. |

| Thanks for the response. We are looking for a medium activity level dog that will be great with our children, who are 7 and 9. We are a very active family, but we also like calmness in a dog when people come to visit and when it is relaxing time with the family. We live in a great area for dogs in Northern California where we can hike and run a lot, so he/she will be well exercised. Thanks for any help you can offer. |

| I have a pup from Essex Golden Retrievers in Lodi. The puppy is great, very calm and super trainable. I had some concerns with the breeder changing dates of when to pick up the puppy. The puppy is grand though.
