Looking for a reputable breeder

I am looking to get a golden girl puppy at the end of 2012/beginning of 2013. I am new to checking out breeders, and want to make sure I go with a reputable one. Most important quality to me is health. Temperament is definitely second.

I live in NC. Would prefer something in the South East, but I am open to anywhere for the right dog.

Any recommendations?

Hi, I live on the NC Coast.

My neighbors got a Golden Boy from a Breeder in SC in Jan.-Sunkyst Goldens. He's a beauitiful boy and they are very happy with him and the breeder.

Here is the info for the Golden Retriever Club of America Puppy Referral program. They contacted them, got referrals of breeders in NC. One breeder referred them to the Breeder in SC because they did not have any available pups at the time.

You can do a search by Region or State.

I am looking for a good breeder in Maryland. I recently lost my 12 year old golden in September. The only breeder I've contacted is Liberty Run in Sykesville, MD. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Kasey, if you will contact the following GR Clubs located in MD, they can provide you will Breeder Referrals for your area. I took this info from the GRCA Puppy Referral Site, link is provided in above post.

I live in the Raleigh area too and we got our dog from Acadia Goldens just outside of Sanford. It has so far been a wonderful experience and our dog is amazing. Beautiful, sweet, lovable, and has the all around Golden personality. Patti Covert has been great to deal with, and is always reachable for any questions that I have. She has a litter now, but I'm pretty sure they are all spoken for, and the next litter will be in 2013.
