should I keep looking or give it more time

Hi everyone,

We are looking to add a golden puppy to our family and I e-mailed a breeder ( Zumbro goldens) regarding an upcoming litter and filled out a questionnaire. I did this a week ago and have not heard anything back at all.

I know breeders are busy with their dogs and their lives but I guess I expected a reply of some kind. Even if it was just a sorry this litter is spoken for or gee I'm busy right now but give me a couple weeks and we can talk.

Anyway should I shoot out another e-mail, give it another week or look for someone else. If it helps we are in eastern South Dakota so we can easily travel to the twin cities. So any further recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help

I emailed or contacted about 20 breeders before I found the right breeder with the right pups at the right time. I ended up having to fly to Chicago and drove to Wisconsin to get him.

Be patient and persistent! There is another thread on here recently about how busy breeders are with pups, showing, etc and they rarely have extra time to spend on the computer, so patience is key. Also make sure that the answers to the questions you asked aren't already posted on their website.

Missing my sweet Howie every day. See you at the bridge, my love.

In would give them a call. Some breeders are too busy to sit down at a computer between showing, breeding, full-time jobs, and life but they do have a phone close-by

I do what I like and like what I do. Yorkies- Cozy (4/1/06), Roxy & Zoey (2/11/08), Lucy (4/6/09); Golden- Buddy (4/13/09- Rescued 12/11) Maine Coon cats- Mika (1998) and Tallulah (2000)

Absolutely agree with this. I had much better luck calling than I did with e-mail. Have your questions ready, and be sure to read what they do have on their website, then pick up the phone and give them a call.

I would just give them a call and see whats up! It also doesn't hurt to look around at a couple different breeders!

The few weeks have been very busy for breeders that do any type of showing because the Golden Retriever National that was held in St. Louis, MO. I would think that would just add to the time it gets to answer e-mails.

I would call just to make sure she got your information, and if no more puppies are available, to see if she recommends anybody else. ( I don't know why, but everytime I talk about a breeder, I tend to call them "she" , no offense to the "he" breeders out there. )

I see she has no phone number listed. Bummer as that makes it harder. Wait a few days and email again asking if she got layout questionnaire. I had the same issue as you and several never even bothered to respond. It was frustrating but I just moved forward with someone else . Good luck and keep us posted!
