Im dying with excitement!!!

Ok so back story is that Bertha my beloved/hated Cavalier has been having 10 ton of problems lately and we have been hunting up a great deal on an SUV or truck and had been having NO LUCK! My personal preferance was a Ford Explorer because it has storagte room, can haul stuff like wood and the car and regular trailer behind it, and it would be easier to get Max our GR in and out of the back safely. Out of the million and a half Explorers, trucks and cars we hadnt found any within our price range that werent totally out of whack mechanically, a bad body can be fixed with some bondo and paint but having to over haul an engine is a lot more than we wanted to do.

Well literally 5 minutes ago I just got off the phone with BF who proceded to tell me about the one Explorer that we had looked at....I was like what the heck are you telling me about this for, we cant afford it cuz the guy just rebuilt the whollllleeee engine from top to bottom and did a lot of other work. It turns out that our heaven sent landlord bought the car for us with one condition we pay our rent and he will pay for everything else with the car (transfering the title, tags, and the adjusted insurance)...WHATTTTTTTTTTTT, so BF snatched up the deal because we needed a new vehicle to replace my slowly dying Bertha.....Im literally shaking, crying, laughing, hysterical and I dont know what to think but holy fudge I had to tell you guys this!!! Im in shock! Seriously in my whole entire life Ive never had anything this good happen to me. I knew when Bf started working that our lives would get better but never in a million years was I expecting this....I mean really how lucky can 2 people get. Not only has our relationship gotten 10x better than ever, we communcate with each other we are on the same level together I mean things have just picked up. We took actual financial responsibility for our cell phones by putting them in our names, we finally got our kitchen window replaces this weekend (a birthday present since thats what I wanted) I have all my happy healthy furbabies kitties and puppies included and now we have a new vehicle. Im under the impression that this Thurs or Friday is when we are going to take it down and transfer everything, plus the bonus with already having an active account with SafeAuto I dont have to hunt up a fax machine to get my proof of insurance for the car.

Holy flipping moly you guys....I have the best boyfriend ever I am in AWE that he is doing this..I mean yeah its our car but for the next 3 years Im still gonna be the only driver...AHHH I cant wait these next couple days are going to crawl by in my impatience to drive the new car....I will be able to go 60 MPH without feeling like my wheels are going to fall off....

I can hear the joy and happiness in your words. Congratulations! I think you need to make some cookies for that landlord of yours.

Your boyfriend sounds like a really great guy...not real common anymore!

Enjoy!

Yay!! So happy for you! I know all too well the hell of having an unreliable car and worrying every time I went somewhere in it. Right before I was to go off to graduate school, the final straw happened in my old Saturn - it needed a new timing chain assembly - something like a $800 repair. HA! I barely had $100 in my checking account, much less that kind of money. Out of the blue, my grandmother decided she wanted to buy a new car, so she gave me her old Buick 4 door that only had 80K miles on it! I mean, it was an older model, but it was nice and clean, and ran great. Got me through the next 5 years of my life - car payment free!

So... take some pics as soon as you get it and post here!! We wanna see your new ride!

BF is a really great guy, between him literally shocking me with excitement about redoing the kitchen for my bday and I think he only did that because it only cost us about 50 bucks at Lowes cuz we already had 99% of everything we needed except a gallon of exterior paint and extra furring strips. He can be the biggest pain in my butt sometimes but I love him to itty bitty crazy pieces. He lets me turn his life upside down and inside out and all he wants me to do is be here at home for him, make him his lunch, clean the house, make sure he has clean undie pants and basically be a housewife.

I am just like WOW right now I cant get past the shock of all this, Im just.......wowed. I know that no matter what Ill never take him for granted because he doesnt have to do half the stuff he does for me and he still does it because he likes to and because it makes me happy. If this would have been a year ago all we would have done was fight and argue over money problems and stuff but since he started working its like all the stress has been lifted from both of us, we know we can pay our bills without worrying what bill cant get paid because we have to stretch 400 to last a month. Its just a big wow factor right now for both of us, especially me because Im not used to this. Ive had to fight scrimp and scrounge for everything Ive gotten in life. This Explorer will be the first car Ive had with power anything in it. Im so pumped to drive it. We are going to get the vin number tonight so I can call the insurance company with all the info to find out if I need any cash to pay upfront (the lady I first talked to doesnt think so) so Ill take tons of pics to post. I dont know Ill be able to take any pics of the inside though it might be locked up.

Im still having an oh wow moment along with doing my happy dance and crying from being so happy excited and touched that he did this for me.

Seriously I have the best boyfriend ever...

Wow, you are so lucky to have him in your life. Seriously, I never asked this question before but what are you waiting for? Marry him. You've been through tough times together and you know what it feels like already.

Sorry if I crossed a line, but he is one in a million

I am gonna marry him. Either this November 11th or next year because 11:11 is our lucky time, we always see that time together. Im happy with whicever, because hes not going anywhere and Im not going anywhere. We arent going to have a fancy wedding deal either, just go to the courthouse and get it done. In all technical sense we are engaged, BF is just easier to type than fiance lol, Im waiting for my ring to get back from being sized......I didnt want to seem like a butthole in all my excitement about getting my kitchen done and being so proud that we did it all ourselves and wanting to share with everyone...I just didnt wanna be like oh and I got a ring too. Granted its only a Wal-Mart right its what I wanted, I cant have expensive jewelry cuz Im really hard on it and have a tendancy to break rings and necklaces so I told him what I liked and we found a pretty cheap one at WalMart that I wont feel bad if I break it....like I did the last one...oops I dont lwear rings helping tear engines out of cars anymore.....or necklaces when Im putting in seats...I broke the cross he got me for my birthday 2 years ago. Anyways...hopefully come one of these Nov 11ths Ill have some pics of me and him at the courthouse posing with me in my jammies and him in his work clothes...we agreed we both get to be comfy no fancy uncomfortable clothes for us LMAO!!!

I hope the explorer doesn't give you any problems. Good luck with your new car.

Wow, what a great landlord you have! And a great fiance, too. Congratulations. I had an Explorer and it was a great SUV (except for the mileage).

We shouldnt have any problems. 0 miles on the engine, only about 15 on the transmission, new brakes, all new fluids in the whole engine stuff...basically the whole thing was overhauled and replaced.

Im like woohooie cuz this is the the first car Ive ever owned that has working air conditioning (my budget never covered AC) and my first vehicle with power anything, locks and windows. Im like all woohooed about it.
Last night we went up to get the VIN number so I could call the insurance company and get a monthly quote and find out exactly what I needed to do to transfer my insurance and its soo easy, since I already have an active policy all I do is call with the vin number and the fax number and they will transfer it and fax my proof right to where we are. Bonus too is my insurance is only going to go from 64 a month to 77 a month. How awesome. They took the Explorer over to the car lot to do the last once over, put the inspection sticker on it and just make sure everythings ready and raring to go. Im so excited so as long as it gets done today tomorrow I will have a whole new vehicle. Now I need your guys help...What should I name her/him????

These are the names of my other cars
97 Cavalier- Bertha
98 Neon- Pedro
89 Escort GT- Bessie

02 Explorer- ?????? I was thinking Franny but BF said no so Im think it needs a manly tough guy name like Butch or Bubba or my favorite Hank (like Hank Hill lol)

Now we have one final decision to make, do we sell Bertha or keep her for the next 3 years (it wont cost nothing to keep her here and just start her up and drive her around the yard). If we keep her for the next 3 yrs the plan is to get her put in BFs name and his ignition interlock in it when he gets his license back and let her sit. Just start her up like once a month or so. If we sell her we are going to fully disclose everything about her, the thing is that if someone has the time and patience to put into her she will still be a really good car the worst part is that the front end is bent from the previous owner wrecking her so the hood looks lopsided, and its a little banged up but we replaced both fenders and have a brand new trunk lid to go with her. I dont know we are still up in the air about Bertha I am a little sad to see her go. I really do love that little car she is a tank and just doesnt wanna quit but unfortunately I just feel unsafe driving her ever since the alternater went out and was replaced.
