I'm so glad it turned out that way for you. My Ranger had to spend last weekend at the Vet. E.R., because a Water Moccasin bit him on the throat. One bit my dog Roxie this summer on her side. Both times I was standing right there. I never saw the snakes until after they had been bit.

Holy crap...I would have been off like a rocket screaming like Jack the Ripper was chasing me down. I am beyond scared of snakes, like phobically petrified of them. Supposidly we have snakes around our house but Ive (knock on a tree) have enver seen one. I remember last summer when I was told that there were snakes around here I refused to take Franklin outside at night...for some reason inside my head snakes only come out at night...when I finally took Franklin out at night by myself I would wear BFs heavy steeltoe work boots to take him out LOL...I even looked up snake bite proof boots to buy for outside. I may be a champion spider killer but Im a huge sissy cry baby when it comes to snakes.

BTW if Bf did to me what your dh is doing to you with the rattler....he would not be waking up in the morning. I would probably have gone crazy after the first time beat him upside the head till he stopped shaking that thing.

I don't mind snakes but any animal that can 'take me out' is scary to me! I'm impressed that so many of you can identify snakes. We have only garter snakes here; they're more like wild pets.

Sorry, should have said Southern Maryland. I'm sure there are some out toward the Mountains and foothills areas.
I hate snakes!

A few years ago, a couple kids were fishing with what they thought were worms when they were actually baby copperheads. They'd found a nest and thought, 'Worms, let's fish!' They did get bitten but were fine.

Coppers Mom

Coppers Mom

I got the heebee-geebees reading about the Snake. I hate them and I'm deadly afraid of them. So glad your Hubby got rid of him and nobody got hurt!
Phew!
I would think twice about walking in the woods now!!!
