Cathy, everyone here could feel your panic, distress and heartbreak because we would all react the same way if one of our beloved pups were missing or stolen. No one who is possessed by this wonderful breed could ignore an owner in pain, even if all they could do was pray or lend you forum support. The pictures of your darling girl warm my heart....congratulations on having that sweetheart back where she belongs

A WORKING DOG IS A HAPPY DOG

Yesterday, I spoke to Amber & Linda, (Skylar's angels) and they said they have gotten about 15 cards and letters (not sure if thats each or between the two of them) with kind words, links to visit and they were thrilled. Linda said and I quote; This has been one of the most positive experiences of my life, just wonderful." She also expressed interest in seeing sky again which I will try to do one day.

That's so sweet

Did the newspaper run the story? Sure would remind people that there are both good and bad people out there. I'm still furious over the goose chase the girl from Craigslist sent you on.

Cathy, I am so thrilled to see Skylar so happy.
I can't imagine the anguish you went through not knowing where or who she was with. I look at Timber and can't even imagine how devasted I would be if I didn't know where he was.

When Cathy received a phone call asking her if she was still missing her Golden Retriever, she thought it was just another wild goose chase. This time however, it was different. Skylar had been found. Skylar was stolen from Cathy's yard on July 19, 2009. Immediately, Cathy enlisted the help of the Golden Retriever community to search for her beloved Sky. Throughout the internet and in her home state of Tennessee, Skylar's story spread. Every possible avenue of communication was taken to alert the public of Sky's absence. From daily internet postings to local newspaper ads. From phone calls and foot searches to mass mailings of "stolen dog" posters. Skylar's plight had become public knowledge. Skylar showed up thirty miles from home in Linda's yard on August 1st, almost two weeks after being stolen. She was limping, thin, and dirty. Linda and a friend cleaned her up, fed her, and began to search for her owner. An advertisement for a stolen dog led them to make that phone call to Cathy, and Skylar's tattoo confirmed her identity. It is believed that Sylar had been dropped off in Linda's neighborhood that morning. We can only hope the hard work of the Golden Retriever community caused the thieves to let Skylar go. It is unkown where she spent her two weeks, but Skylar's story is a testament to how important immediate action, networking, and permanent identification is to all of our precious canine friends.. Thank you to all of the angels that were committed to finding Skylar.
