I've been using Avid FreeDv to edit my movies. Mine are in Quicktime format & I have to convert them on import. Program works great & has good features.

I've also been using Ulead VideoStudio 10 (but this one isn't free) and really like it so far.

Mine are also Quicktime format. I hate Quicktime, but I had to buy the Pro version of it, so I could convert it to AVI....THEN import to Windows Movie Maker to make WMV files....

I don't like Quicktime either so that's what sent me on a search for another program. I like both of the ones I mentioned lots better than Movie Maker. Might want to give that free download a try.
