The Northeast blizzard thread February 2013

Thought I would start a thread about it. It has begun. Looks like we are getting close to 2' of heavy wet snow, some pockets of 30"+ possible.

Feel free to stay in touch, post pictures etc. Stay safe folks!

We've got a couple of inches already and it looks like a winter wonderland even though the worst of the storm isn't supposed to come until this evening. Our big worry is power outage which when you're on a well means no water as well as no heat, no light, no internet etc. We must be the last people in town who still don't have a generator. The good news is we have an old fashioned land line for the phone which never seems to go out. It's supposed to go into the 20's tonight and the low teens tomorrow night. I keep asking what are the chances it's going to be really bad given that we've had a couple of monster storms in the last 18 months? Well even as I've been typing this the snow has gotten heavier.

All I can say is holeeeee cow! Be safe all. Hope you've got back-up generators, water and some non-perishable food. And blankets!

I hadn't even thought that far. I'll just be happy if we don't loose power. I'm resigned to seeing the mountains of snow around for weeks. They're reporting that the gas stations are running out of gas. Don't know if it's people buying for generators or where they think they're going to be going in their cars? These storms make people act crazy.

Enjoyed those storm maps above.
