Tomorrow is my last day of work. The hospital decided rather than sell our department that they would just shut us down.

I'm kind of sad, yet relieved some too. It's been very stressful the last year with all the cutbacks, re distribution of jobs and departments. The Hospital decided that senior citizens are not what they want to be involved in and have thus cut department after department that had anything to do with the elderly. First was adult daycare, next the bus that transported senior citizens to apts, meals on wheels etc etc....It's so disheartening to see the "direction" they are taking

So after tomorrow I will be officially unemployed. I did have an interview last week, but they want me to be more available than I am. I can't and won't agree to work every weekend. So thinking they probably won't call me back.

To top it off DH's job is doing layoffs now too. He's way up there and probably won't be affected ...but who knows. Just feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight...

This is such a hard place to be, but maybe it is an opportunity to create something new in your life. In my experience, what works best is to focus on what you want, right down to the tiniest details. If you keep telling the Universe what you want, you're somehow more likely to find it, even if that's just because you recognize it when you see it.

I was laid off last January when my company relocated to North Georgia.

It was scary...and I felt like a loser at times, even though I was at no fault--but still, it just is not a good feeling--and some days were worse than others.

But, things happen for a reason and I got on at a job that I really love back in November. So I hope you find something that you like (even more) than the one you are leaving tomorrow. HUGS though...because I know it's bittersweet.

So sad, but hopefully it will be a new better beginning.

Right now, I sit in the corner of a floor, by myself, surrounded by over forty empty desks. In the past year, the last one being last week, I have seen all these people get laid off, or get sourced out. We were told that the economists in the company are saying the economy is not going to recover for at least another 18 months, so they warned us they will continue to do this until the economy gets better.


Such sad and stressful times.

So sorry to hear this. I totally understand as I have been laid off twice - once I laid myself off and typed my own severance agreement. Both times it turned out to be a blessing in disguise and each time I found a better job than the one I had.

Thanks everyone. I am sure we will be ok, just sucks I loved what I did and am very disappointed, but I will be ok I am sure. It just sort of hit me tonight that after tomorrow I will join the rolls of unemployed. Just praying DH's job isn't affected. We can live with me unemployed, but not him!!!
