That is awesome! Good luck. I did my first half marathon last May - was my "turning 55 birthday gift" to myself I loved it but the training burned me out and I had a hard time even getting back to the gym after. I have just started training to run it again this coming May - I run in Ottawa which is a beautiful scenic route. You are right the feeling at the end is exhilarating! Enjoy! Carol

Forever in our hearts - Oakley 21/10/03 - 23/11/12 and Seger 21/10/03 - 23/03/14 - Our hearts and home are empty.

When she crosses the finish line, she will see a sign "Congratulations Tink, next up: YOUR race"
Hopefully she will understand the hint...Her nickname is Tink, from Tinkerbelle, her favorite Disney Character. Her birthday gift is a flight to California and race entry into the Tinkerbell half marathon on january 20th.
Woohoo Disney running is fun!!!

I was the same way with my marathon. I just wanted to finish. There was an 7 hr time limit on the course and we finished just under 6 hrs. DH was kind and stayed with me the whole way. ( he as done about 5 marathons now) the half i did i had a time goal of 2:30. Still slow for some but i was proud that i finished at 2:30:29. When i ran the full at the half mark i was about 3 mins faster than that... but we ended up walking a decent amount of the second half since my knee was killing me.

For the first one finishing is a good goal. I may do another half someday.

Carol: congrats on your half!!! Training is such a killer. I feel like I should already sign up for another race (as in a 10K smaller. ) to keep me going!

Georgia: oh man, I bet she will love that! That's going to be SO cool!!! That would be such an amazing gift!

Jushing: congrats on your marathon AND your half!! Finishing is WAY more important than time in my eyes! . Running is such a killer on the knees. My right one is dunzo and I haven't even ran the full thing yet!

Just remember DLF>DNF>>DNS

Dead last finish is greater than did not finish which is far greater than did not start :-)

It will all be worth it when you get that monster bling around your neck!

Oh thank you!!! My goal was to finish, and I did!!! It took me about 6 hours to get done. Mile 20 was absolutely terrible, but when the gospel choir came out at mile 26, I got my second wind (although a little late ). It was awesome. I would TOTALLY run the Disney one again, although I think that is about the only one I would do. I think the fact that I absolutely love disney helped me get through.
