This philosophy now works for me too. I seriously consider new purchases: do I need it?/ do I have a place for it? vs. is it just a whim/ dust collector?

And when I bring in something new (clothes especially), I get rid of one or more.

Watching "hoarders" made me realize that a mess can gradually take over and I never want that.

Enjoy the cards but clean out now unless there is a special photo card or christmas letter you want for later. (that's my vote )

If you want to get rid of things, you should be able to. There are some neat suggestions in this thread to reuse cards for future things and my local library requests old holiday cards each year which they recraft into new cards for various agencies.

Ha! Watching that show used to make me feel like things aren't that messy around here Now, I try to go to estate sales a few times a year. There are a few things that I like to keep my eyes open for, but mainly it's to remind me what's really important and to not "save" so many things "just in case" because I don't want someone to have to go through (or pay someone to go through) any more than needed. At one point I had enough rubber bands to rival an Guiness World Record collection.
