| You can only try to educate... Well, my boss and practice owner of my vet wanted a lab puppy (she told me about 2 weeks ago max). I told her I'd help her find a good breeder. I found two breeders that I liked and that met her needs. I even posted on here to see if anyone had any suggestions. Today I found out she went and got a puppy from a byb. At least I can say I tried... This is the website of the 'breeder' Stone Ridge Labradors - Home -sigh-

| This is a perfect example of how little many vets know about breeding and responsible breeders and what we do. I have repeatedly seen exactly what you talk about here at the various vets I have gone to over the years. While they understand medicine.. I find that for the majority, they have very little understanding of responsible breeding and husbandry

| I am curious how this breeder is a BYB? She does hip and eye CERFS. Someone I know that breeds Goldens only does Hip x rays through their regular vet and does not send them off to the OFA and does not do eyes, heart or thyroid (just has the regular vet say they are fine). Thats BYB in my opinion. I see in the contract the dog must remain intact, am I reading that right? I personally for myself have no issues with that part of the contract, but I can see it for the majority of people being a problem. I also see they do limited registration and full registration not sure what the difference are? I always had Full registrations |

| Yes it is truly unfortunate and I really did try. I gave her two lab breeders in our area. But I guess she just had to have the lab puppy now instead of waiting for the perfect litter. I hope her new puppy is free of health problems because she really does want to do a lot with her training wise (she wants to do nosework it sounds like) at the very least.
