| Thanks for asking! If I couldn't get another Golden, I would want either a German Shepherd Dog or Australian Shepherd.
I have always loved German Shepherds. They are my second favorite after Goldens. They are awesome! They are loyal and affectionate. They will take a bullet for you in a heartbeat, for they are very brave. They help people heal like Goldens do since they make good therapy dogs, seeing eye dogs, service dogs etc. Therapy Dogs International features the breed as a loving breed.
Australian Shepherds are such beautiful dogs. Border Collies used to be my favorite, but my home meaning lifestyle is not suitable for them. There are some Aussies that have the energy level of Border Collies, but there are others that have the same energy level as Goldens. I especially love Tri-Colored ones, with Blue Merle being my second favorite color. When I was training for the AKC Canine Good Citizen on Mary Ann Robertson's farm, she brought out dogs to practice with. This is one thing Mercy needs practice with by the way. One dog she brought out for practice was a dog named Davis. He was such a gorgeous Tri-Colored 4 month old Aussie. I couldn't stand it! I wanted to pet him, but my higher priority was getting Mercy trained. Mary owns a kennel and I believe Davis was boading there. When she took Davis in and brought out a Burnese Mountain Dog, I knew I had lost my chance. I still wish to this day that I had petted him while he was tied by the barn. At first I thought it was Mary Ann's own dog and I was going to ask her which breeder she got him from. Oh well!
