NAME: Dwyllis
LOCATION: Rangitikei North Island New Zealand
AGE: 60
OCCUPATION: Nurse. For the past nine years I have worked on an Elderhealth Psychiatric hospital ward. Currently been off work for nine weeks on full pay after being attacked by an aggressive patient & suffering a herniated disc with compression of sciatic nerve, causing severe sciatica. awaiting surgery to relieve compression.
ATTACHMENT: Married. I have two sons living in America. My youngest son lives in NZ, but a three hour drive away. I have one grandaughter living in the Middle East aged 8 years. Two granddaughters aged six & 3 years living in America. A grandson aged three years living in America. A grandson livi g in NZ aged 8 years.
HOBBIES: Gardening ( can't do it at the moment so watching the weeds grow). Playing clarinet ....husband plays flugelhorn. Travelling to visit my two older sons who live in Michigan, USA ....have managed to spend time with them & young grandchildren two years running, but have no idea when I will see them again. My pets .....they are a huge part of our lives. Antique dolls ....I have collected them for over 30 years. Reading ....nothing better than curling up with a good book. Internet .....I love educating myself on the net.
PETS: Jontay ....six year old papillon. Loki ....GR. Sixteen weeks old today. Rosie ......silver tabby domestic cat aged twelve. Tammy ....brown spotted Bengal cat aged six years. Lily ...lynx snow leopard Bengal cat aged six years ....we bred these two ourselves, as for several years we were Registered Bengal Breeders. Not now. R.I.P. my beloved Burmese girl Casi, who died under suspicious circumstances aged thirteen years, four years ago. Never forgotten. Always in my heart. Missed so much.
FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO WITH MY GOLDEN: Clicker Training. Walking him (much more slowly than he would like ...see above). Taking him to new places ....I get so much pleasure out of sharing his new experiences. Can't wait to take him to the river & to the beach. Just sharing my home & my life with him.
#1 ITEM ON MY BUCKET LIST: To explore New Zealand & then Europe. I have lived in many different places in the world .....England for a total of sixteen years....Jordan in the Middle East for five years ....Singapore for two years .....The Gambia in West Africa for six years. Born in NZ but spent most of my adult life living away from it. Returned to live here end of 1998, but I have seen so little of this amazingly beautiful country. Also want to travel back to UK & Europe with my husband, as he has never been to that side of the world.
REASON FOR JOINING THIS FORUM: a few years ago we shared our home with two beautiful Maremmas (super-large Italian Sheepdogs) Thor & Neeve & sister we got as seven week old puppies. Out of ignorance we did not train them properly& had huge issues with barking, recall, & not being able to walk them often due to pulling on weighed fifty kilos the other weighed forty- six kilos. Finally, due to complaints from neighbours, we were forced to rehome them. It was absolutely heart-breaking & we still grieve over them. We want/have to get it right with Loki. We want him to be with us for his whole life. So I have done lots of Internet research & came across this forum just four days ago. I am learning such a lot.
