Let's Honor the Veterans in our Lives I'm honored to be the daughter and wife of Army Veterans. My Dad was in World War II and my husband was in Viet Nam. In honor of these brave men and women that have served to keep our freedom I thought it would be a good idea to post some pictures of the Vets in our Lives. Here is a picture of my husband in Viet Nam. He was in the Infantry and was a helicopter door gunner. The second image is of my Dad's honorable discharge from the Army in WWII. I carry that with me in my wallet. Happy Veteran's Day to all that served our great country!

I am the proud mother of an Iraq Veteran. He served four years in the Army, Special Forces and 2 years in the Reserves. He is officially out as of this month. I am happy to report that he is currently enrolled in College and talking advantage of the G.I. Bill he earned and deserves. Thank you to all the others who served, are serving and will serve! This morning we went and saw a memorial that our city put up this summer at the Marine Park. It has part of one of the beams from the Twin Towers, along with a replica of the Statue of Liberty and the Twin towers. I fly my flag proudly today!!!!

My father was in the Air Corps, WWll. My great uncle was Patton's driver. I'm a direct descendant of U. S. Grant. My ex was an army officer. My oldest son is still in the Air Force, with Red Horse, a specialized forward deployment unit. He's been deployed more times than I remember. My second son was an air traffic controller for the Air Force, he's now a disabled vet. My daughter-in-law just got out of the Air Force a year ago. She is going to college full time and works two jobs, one is for the VA. She is still in the reserves. When my sons went for their secret clearance they were told they were from the 'military' family, having had six family members with top secret clearance in only a few generations, (myself included). I teach on a military post. The military is a part of our life and I couldn't be prouder of our men and women and the ones who support them, from their family members to the civilians around them. Last week three men were in line ahead of a soldier at a local supermarket, even though he protested they didn't have to, they paid for his basket of food. Yesterday, the town gave a wounded warrier a brand new house, free. God Bless our military and those who support them. Those gone will never be forgotten.
