Apple mini ipad

Has anyone bought the new mini ipad? I would like to order on but want to make sure it gets good reviews. There is no store in my town that sells these? Which really irritates me since I can't even get to see it first.

Last year I purchased a 7 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, which according to Apple, is a knock off of the Apple mini iPad which just came out, but whatever. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is the larger version of the 7 inch tablet. I tend to most of my internet searching and messaging on the bigger tablet, simply because it's easier to manipulate on the screen. The exception- reading e-books- I use the smaller tablet for it because it most closely resembles my Kindle touch. Traveling with the 7 inch is also easier.

It depends on what you'll use it for. If it's for games and casual web surfing, you may find a better value in a Samsung tablet.

I like the Apple stuff because I sync contacts, calendars, e-mail, and docs across all my devices, and iCloud is currently the best system for me to do that with my Apple laptops and creative software.

If you don't do all that, using Google for mail, contacts, and calendars and then syncing with your Apple or PC computer is probably just as easy with non-Apple tablets, and they tend to give you a little more bang for your buck on the hardware.

My only issue is that it does not have a Retina display...I was in the apple store looking at them, and in comparison with the iPad it makes a difference. I would bet that you will see a Retina display in the next version of the mini. I am a total apple geek, and I always find it best to wait until they work out the "bugs" in the first generation product and get the second. That being said i have jumped on first ten products before because i Had to have it (how does apple make people like me drink their kool aid ) and been just fine through updates etc.
What will you be using it for mostly?

I would use it for FB---emails---to read the news---utube---when traveling to keep up on whats going on---not so much for reading as I have a Kindle---I like FB a lot and hate when I don't have wifi connection when traveling---I have an ipod that is acting up on me and the battery is last not even an hour----I don't have a real cell phone as Im not one to chat on the phone much---I just love gadgets and I can afford the mini---but do I need it???

iPad Mini Review

Here is a link to a review by Engadget of the new Mini iPad. In a nutshell, they love it.

I own the new full size iPad, and think it is a remarkable device.

I agree. I love, love, love my iPad and don't know why I waited to so long to get one.

I almost got a lap top instead of an iPad, but I'm so glad I didn't. I love my iPad! I think the mini is nice but I only use mine at home or work and I think the iPad 2 size is better for me.
