I have the iPhone 4 and love it. What are the differences?

The biggest difference is that my buttons actually work on the 5. Lol. I had the 4 as well. My home button stopped working and a few months later, so did the lock button

Anyways. It's quite a bit thinner and lighter. I feel like I'm not even holding anything - which is pretty neat in my opinion. I really like the bigger screen. Great camera, panorama is neat as well (more pics of Dex! haha). LTE is amazingly fast. I know all areas don't have it yet, and I go to areas that don't have it some times - I can tell the difference. The speakers are amazing. I have Siri now, which I haven't used for anything "important" yet, more or less just laughs. She's quite the conversationalist. I like that I can choose a song from my playlist as my alarm in the mornings. The battery life is AWESOME. I unplugged it at 8 am, played with it all day yesterday, and when I went to bed last night - I still had 70%. With my 4, I would've had to have charged it half way through the day. Twice. I'm sure there are things I'm missing, but I've only had it since Wednesday, so I'll probably find new things to add, this is just what I like so far OH. the headphones that came with it. Love.

The one thing I don't like is the back. It's not that big of a deal, but I don't really see the point in the aluminum on the back. I almost got the black because of it, but chose to go with the white again instead.

I love my idevices. iPhones, iPod and iPad.
Main thing with Apple devices:
1) Quality - They are solid devices with excellent build quality
2) Support - One call to Apple and they are on their way to fixing whatever it is. Whether it's a question or a malfunction.
3) Integration - it's a whole ecosystem so everything integrates flawlessly with everything else. Calendar, messages, music, movies....a whole package. Whether iCloud or not.
4) App quality - Android is hugely fragmented....I have a Skyrocket and had an Atrix and found that apps that I really liked on my Atrix were not available on the Skyrocket. With Apple, the apps that you get are quickly and effortlessly ported to any new device you get. The apps that I had for my iPhone 3GS ported to my iPhone 4S and then to my iPhone 5 without even missing a beat.

Apple is on its way down in popularity and it's now lost 25% of marketshare to Samsung. But the support I get from calling Apple or going to a store to see a "genius" is one of the things I love about Apple. Customer service is phenomenal.

I have an iPad and I take it to bed with me instead of my laptop. I also take it on travel, and when I do I simply buy a 5G data package for one month to cover any time I might not be on wifi. I can probably do with much less since airports and hotels all have free wifi now, as do many restaurants. I've got several movies that I add or remove depending on what I want to see on planes, so that if a flight I'm on has a movie I'm not interested in seeing I can bring out my iPad and watch one or two movies back to back.

I will probably get myself a mini to go in my purse and leave my full size iPad at home.

I'm so glad you mentioned this. Apple gives free diagnosis when you visit the Genius Bar in the Apple store. They are all so knowledgeable and are able to tell you exactly what's wrong and what you can do to fix it. They are fast and efficient. My hard drive failed after my computer took a really nasty fall. I had a 10 page paper due in 4 days. They were able to save all of my files and pictures and reinstall a new and even better hard drive within a few hours. It cost next to nothing. It's like a brand new computer and I got to finish my paper.

Also, the day before my hard drive failed, I was having trouble with it (not realizing what was happening) - an Apple rep called after I requested service and stayed on the phone with me for two hours trying things and I wasn't charged a dime (they can charge $19.99 for certain service calls, it would've been worth it at the time and I was willing to pay). Even though it ended up being my hard drive and there was nothing we could do, I appreciated the fact that he stayed on the phone with me and tried so many different things.

Dont laugh - but I am new to apple. So I know the ipad the iphone but what is ipod?

I really want to know... Probably I was not in this world when ipod came out... So what is ipod please? Is it only a phone? Who are the people using ipod? Maybe I should google it when I have some time... anyone ... to clear my mind?

iPod is the original music player. iPod Touch is similar to iPhone, but does not make phone calls. Plays music, games, etc. There are smaller iPods that play music, games, video. Take a look at Apple.com.

I've got an iPhone and an iPod. Because the iPhone hasn't got a user replaceable battery and I don't bother with juice packs, I use my iPod when I just want to listen to music, leaving my phone's battery for calls or other uses.
Also, at 160GB capacity, the iPod can store more music than my iPhone or an iPod Touch.
The down side to the iPod is that it doesn't do any apps or games, it is strictly a music player.

Besides, all that, I'm a geek. I got my first iPod when it first came out and I have had one ever since.

The new iPods such as the iPod touch are almost identical to the iPhone..and there ARE apps that you can download that allow you to make phone calls, texts to non apple products, and of course you can always use facetime with other apple users as well as message other apple users for free. You just have to use wifi since there is no cell signal.
